Allen Grub Screws (Socket Set Screws)
Headless hex socket set screws for locking pulleys, gears, collars and knobs onto shafts — cup, flat, cone and dog point, in alloy steel and stainless.
About our grub screws range
Grub screws (also called allen grub screws or socket set screws) have no head — they are fully threaded with a hex socket at one end and a point at the other. Tightened through a threaded hole, the point presses against a shaft to stop a pulley, gear, collar or coupling from slipping. Because they sit flush or below the surface, they are ideal where a protruding head is not acceptable.
We stock grub screws in alloy steel grade 45H (black) and stainless steel A2 / A4, from M3 to M24, in all four common point types. Cup point (DIN 916) is the general-purpose choice; flat point (DIN 913) suits frequent adjustment and hardened shafts; cone point (DIN 914) gives the strongest hold in a pre-drilled spot; dog point (DIN 915) locates in a hole or groove.
Common sizes we supply: M4, M5, M6, M8, M10 and M12 grub screws — for example M6 x 8, M8 x 10, M10 x 12 and M12 x 16 — in grade 45H black and SS.
Also known in the trade as: Grub screw, Allen grub screw, Set screw, Socket set screw, Headless screw, Cup point grub screw.

Common questions
What is the difference between a grub screw and a set screw?
They are the same thing. 'Grub screw' is the common name in India and the UK; 'socket set screw' is the standard name in DIN / ISO catalogues.
Which grub screw point should I use?
Use cup point (DIN 916) for general locking on a shaft, flat point (DIN 913) where you adjust often or the shaft is hardened, cone point (DIN 914) for maximum hold in a drilled spot, and dog point (DIN 915) to locate in a hole or slot.
